Have you ever thought about, What is Eternity?
I had asked myself this question one time, in which, it almost resulted an existential crisis, since the human mind can’t comprehend it until a certain point. Its Kind of similar to the Concept of Death. It is difficult to explain since some of us hasn’t experience it. If we were, most don’t come back. If we do, we don’t believe it.
So, According to my belief, there is a Life after death; That is our physical death, in which the body expires over time. The one that I will focusing on is, the Spiritual death. In John 3.36 says: " Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them."
My personal interpretation of Eternity is, a Nonstop repetition of the same event over and over again. Meaning, It never stops.
Example: Drinking soda everyday at 12pm at my lunch break. This precise concept of, Drinking soda on my lunch IS the Nonstop event; that is the, Drinking factor, in which, results to affect my body over time with: Sugar rush, or it can cause health problems as well.
Another example is: going to my job and make sandwiches. The concept of making sandwiches, is the eternal factor. If I don’t exist, then, the sandwiches doesn’t exist as well.
Another factor that I can use as a form of a “fact” or “back up” will be, The Concept of Time Travel. There is a favorite show of mine on Netflix, called, “Dark”. It is a Slow, Eerie, Suspenseful show with Lots of Causes and Effects, where everything “is happening” has happened. Another example is a video game called: Oxenfree; where you aregoing on a first time cruise, to a historical land, where strange events happens by you opening a mysterious portal through radio waves from a walkie talkie and find out that, this has happened already, since you are in the time loop. ( I totally recommend both the show and the game. Its really awesome)
I bring this topic since, I was on my way to work and saw the construction workers by the morning, only to come and find out that after my eight hour shift the construction workers are still working, which could make one wonder, did they ever went home? That is, unless, they were relayed by another team that took over their spot and continued the work that was left off.
In the book of Ecclesiastes 3.11 mentions: " God makes everything beautiful in its time and has placed eternity in the human heart, yet humans cannot fully fathom His work". My personal take is that, God intended to have heaven on earth or at least the concept of it. The best example that I can back myself biblically is from: Revelation 21.1-3: “Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth,’ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away… I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God… ‘God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them.’” and we got to see this similar concept in Genesis with God, Adam and Eve before the fall.
What am trying to say, in order for me to conclude is: We are eternal beings, living in a temporal state, in this body and will get to live eternally in Heaven or Hell. Now, remember, in John 14.6 says: " Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." No one gets to go to heaven by their own selves. Its only through Jesus himself and no one else.
God bless you.
