I was watching an Instagram video of two Christian believers debating or discussing about being perfect by the law (10 commandments). They discussed by hitting Bible verses back-to-back.
I too had to check on my own since:
- I understand the Bible more in Spanish.
- They could be talking about the verse, twisting it for their benefit.
So, I checked the Bible and I got to understand once again, deeper, that whatever you do for God and others, do it with love. If it’s not by love and it’s just doing it to check a box or list, it’s meaningless.
Before I provide biblical text, I will give an example.
Example:
Most of you know (my co-workers) or may hear Christian music around me from my computer station. I put the music on for reasons, but if I repeat that concept every single day ( which I do), I start losing the real reasons why I do it and it becomes a dull or meaningless task.
Also the fact of, me going to church every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday—if I don’t find or remember the reason of why am going to the temple, I’ll be doing it out of repetition.
As humans, we lose meaning when we repeat the same thing.
If we don’t do things with/for/in love, then it’s for nothing.
Biblical Facts: To Live with Love
1. Mark 12:30-31:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second (commandment) is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
People say:
“I love you” without having God (who is love).
If they do, how far do they love you?
Just like we say:
“Love has no boundaries.” At the end we still contradict ourselves.
The real question outside of God…
What do we love without God in this present moment?
If you love anything more than God, then it isn’t love (technically).
2. Colossians 3:23-25:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters (aka to please man out of benefit with cunningness, malice), since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.”
These verses show where King David (the guy from David vs. Goliath) is mentioned as having the “heart of the Lord.”
Acts 13:22:
“After removing Saul, He made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’”
Don’t get it wrong—David did horrible things. When he did them, he repented right away.
The good things he did though?
He
sought God with all his heart, mind, soul, and strength.
And he
loved his neighbor as himself.
This is what God meant by:
“He will do everything I want him to do.”
To add more, to let someone do their will is to yield your wishes, desires, plans to the other person depending on the cause, scenario, or reason to please them with/for love.
I mean, look at me, look at you. Where are we currently working to help? (I work at a Primary care office)
Most of us choose by having empathy and love.
How far though?
Only you know and only I know the answer for ourselves.
As long as you do it with love and don’t stop, you are doing great.
If not, we need to start to dig in deep into ourselves and work on it.
I Love you!!!!!!!!
